Stewart North from Ebenezer Church (chair of trustees of BISC – Bristol International Student Centre) will share how welcoming international students has impacted his church congregation and you’ll hear from two international students about their experiences of studying in Bristol and being welcomed by church members. The Encountering the World of Islam course will start on Saturday 3 October 2015 in Bristol. It runs over six Saturdays – one per month, enabling participants to discover God’s heart for Muslims. This is the first time a course of this level has been run in the soutwest outside Bible Colleges.

The course guides participants on a journey into the lives of Muslims around the world and in our neighbourhoods. It is based around talks by internationally recognised speakers, including Steve Bell (Interserve) and Greg Livingstone (Frontiers), together with interactive activities to reinforce the teaching to help you connect relationally with Muslim people and their local Muslim community. You will find out how to respectfully explain your hope in Jesus Christ, while not repeating mistakes of the past. Along the journey fears and myths about Muslims will be dispelled.

Each participant on the course will receive a reader which contains writings from more than 80 different practitioners. There is also an opportunity to participate in an online forum where questions and ideas can be freely discussed. Participants leave the class with a working knowledge of the Islamic faith, knowing how to get involved in reaching out to Muslims, and how to explain their beliefs to Muslims.

Encountering the World of Islam provides a positive and Biblical perspective on God’s heart for Muslims and equips Christians to reach out to them with Christ’s love. More information on the course can be found at: https://encounteringislam.org or the flyer.
